If you want better pasta, you'll pay through the nose or you'll make it yourself. It is a step up from Barilla (which does not make Orecchiette), and cooks up a little differently. It tends to be a bit creamier without loosing its firmness. Orecchiette is a wonderful summer pasta that is perfect with broccoli and sausage. Value: For some reason, the De Cecco pastas are all different prices. This one is the least expensive and is one of my favorites. Amazon's price (as of April 2011) is considerably cheaper than the grocery store's non-sale price, and slightly less expensive than the on-sale price. Packaging: There is a lot of plastic and a cardboard backing preventing the pasta from shattering during shipping. I'm glad to have in tact pasta so I don't mind too much.
